Attorney Said His Client Has Cooperated With UConn, State PoliceHARTFORD, Conn. -- A Hartford attorney said that his client, a possible suspect in the death of a UConn football player, was at UConn when Jasper Howard was stabbed. But he claims that his client had no idea that he was stabbed until police went knocking on his door in Bloomfield.
Attorney Deron Freeman represents a Bloomfield man who he said was in his 20s, had a job and no criminal history. However, Freeman said UConn and State police have pegged him as a possible suspect in Howard’s death.Freeman said that his client' s group of friends got into a fight with several football players, but claims that his client tried to break the fight up and didn’t see Howard or any other victim.Freeman said his client had no contact with police the night Howard was stabbed to death, so he doesn’t understand how authorities got his client’s name or address.
